50th Anniversary of Wounded Knee ‘73

February 27th, 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Wounded Knee. The Warrior Women Project helped plan out a weekend of activities in honor and celebration of this event, including:

  • Launching an interactive exhibit honoring the women of Wounded Knee

  • Hosting live stream presentations, discussions, and celebrations

  • Documenting, archiving and sharing history directly from the occupiers, their families and community.

We are now developing the schedule for our traveling exhibit ‘Honoring the Women of the Wounded Knee’ featuring never-before-shared oral history clips and media from our archival collection. The exhibit was launched as part of the series of events and live streams planned to commemorate this most epic act of resistance that launched the global movement for Indigenous rights.

You can scroll through our Media Press kit using the thumbnails at the bottom, and view sample oral history clips and related resources on warriorwomenarchive.org

There are many more layers of this history yet to be told and we are calling on your support to help us work with the community to share it. Donate $50 or more to be automatically entered for drawings for free Hand-Knit Headbands from the Warrior Women Project!
