TRAVELING EXHIBIT DETAILS

  • Sixteen 3x7 ft (33”x81”) retractable banners share the stories of over a dozen woman narrators from the Warrior Women Oral History Archive, displaying biographies and direct quotes from their experiences during the Wounded Knee occupation in 1973.

The free standing banners can be placed along a wall or fill spaces in creative ways. The banners are complemented by video tablets showcasing clips from their oral history interviews, offering a deeply personal and immersive experience.

  • The two 8x12 ft cloth banner displays expand the depth and impact of the exhibit.

The first banner features an image collage from 'Voices from Wounded Knee', weaving together a powerful visual story of resilience and unity. These images capture the feeling of day to day life during the occupation, drawing viewers in to the experience of Wounded Knee ‘73.

The second banner presents portraits and names of 400+ defendants represented by the Wounded Knee Legal Defense/Offense Committee. Each face tells a story of courage and commitment, collectively showcasing the breadth of support and resistance that defined this pivotal moment in history. Together, these banners create an immersive experience, inviting viewers to understand the legacy of Wounded Knee through personal connection.
